6 DSP tabs is not a control tower

Here's an honest question: when a campaign starts overspending on a Tuesday night, what actually catches it — a person, or a report someone reads Thursday?

Cross-platform media runs in silos. Display in one UI, CTV in another, audio in a third, and a spreadsheet trying to hold it all together. Every platform is genuinely good at showing its own numbers. But the thing you actually manage — the whole plan versus reality, and what needs a decision today — lives in none of them.

Dashboards report. Control towers decide.

The industry answer to fragmentation has been dashboards: pull the numbers into one place, add charts. Better than tabs, but a dashboard's unit of work is a number — it still relies on a human to notice the anomaly, diagnose it, decide the fix, and remember to apply it.

A control tower's unit of work is a decision. The system watches pacing, efficiency, and anomaly signals continuously, and when something crosses a threshold it doesn't redden a cell — it files a recommendation: here's what's wrong, here's the evidence, here's the exact change I want to make, here's the projected impact. Your job compresses to the only part that needs judgment: yes or no.

What that looks like in practice

• One screen, every channel. Pacing vs. plan, spend, CPA/ROAS, and alerts for the whole portfolio — simulated and live campaigns side by side.
• Recommendations, not alerts. “CTV conversion rate is 39% of expected on 1,900 clicks — an estimated $8.4K is wasted. Pause the line.” is actionable. A red badge is homework.
• A decision queue. Everything the copilot proposes, portfolio-wide, in one inbox — approve, reject, or let a policy you wrote handle the small stuff.
• A memory. Every acted-on recommendation becomes an immutable record: proposal, verdict, applied outcome. The Monday meeting stops being archaeology.

The test

Whatever tooling you run, it should be able to answer one question at 9am without any human assembling anything: does anything need me today? If answering that takes six tabs and a pivot table, you don't have a control tower — you have six dashboards and a prayer.
